 A patchwork scarf

This scarf was made by the hand of my friend Deirdre Jordan, a designer and co-founder of Troscan, a high-end, residential, to-the-trade furniture company.  Deirdre is an avid collector and a passionate connoisseur of beauty.  Over the years, Deirdre and I have bonded over our mutual love of fabrics and many of the good things life has to offer.  Some of our overly large collections of fabrics were obtained on mutual shopping excursions.  One year, for my birthday, she gifted me with this scarf which she lovingly made from a selection of antique silk fabrics from her collection.  The colors in the scarf are bright and cheerful, reminiscent of her sunny personality, but moreover, the warmth with which she regards me.  The overall combination of fabric choices, from patterns, colors and textures, imbues the design full of optimism just like my dear friend and our friendship.  For more information on what Deirdre does with much of her work, please visit:  http://troscandesign.com
