Joining Glass

The last two steps in making a stained glass panels...
...are to copper foil each piece of glass, then solder all the pieces together. To create more depth I overlap the stained glass panels. There are a few other techniques for painting on the glass other than silk screening. The glass of the green border was first cut, then the black lines were painted with a paint brush and fired. To add shading I airbrushed a light coating of black and used a soft paintbrush to lightly remove some of the paint, creating a three dimensional shading effect. Once all the layers are fully painted, fired and soldered, I overlap and solder each together. Each of my panels are set inside a light box and wall hung.
