Walls of Character

Recycled acoustics
This is a wall in the live room at Studio G Brooklyn – a recording studio that has seen the likes of musicians such as Frank Black, Mos Def, the Black Keys, Q-Tip, Mike Watt and Jon Langford amongst a list of many. This wall is a gorgeously random evolution with purposeful application of found and left over wood. They have been nailed into the wall as acoustic paneling. This beautiful mosaic has organically developed over time and every piece of rescued wood probably has a story. Here in this place of creativity, the wood absorbs and warms the sounds played or sung in the space by absorbing the sounds waves that might otherwise bounce around the room, ricocheting off harder surfaces. They form a unique, nearly chaotic, visually sculptural landscape that provides not only function but curiosity for any who performs in the space.
