Strange Harvest

Always hungry for Greg Kuharic's squash

I bought one of these the first time Greg Kuharic had a show (called Strange Harvest) out of his apartment in Manhattan. I didn't go to see the show: I knew as soon as I saw the postcard that I had to have a piece. Had to.  After an email or two, Greg fixed me up with one, and I was satisfied for a while.  But one led to another, and now we are just shy of a dozen.  Why do I love them?

Because I know just from looking that Greg sat obsessively for hours making each perfect thorn, each lobe, each curving stem. And in the unreasonable, patient, perfect act of making I find something to aspire to.   Because the unpredictable meeting of slimy glazes and clays with fire makes each piece a survivor -- another thing to admire.  Because they are weird and humorous. Because I hide things from my partner in them. Do I need a better reason?
